COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a turnkey installation include?

A turnkey installation with The Potagère Gardener takes away the hard work of designing, planning and implementing your kitchen garden project. We eliminate the confusion and frustration and set you up for success from the start.

What does a consult include?

When you book a consultation with us you receive an in person visit. The consult begins with a tour through your landscape, an introduction to our best practices in setting up a thriving kitchen garden, and finally a discussion about the kitchen garden designs that best fit your landscape and your priorities.

Do you use organic gardening practices?

The Potagère Gardener doesn't use any synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fungicides in our raised gardens, soil or plants. In addition, we use organic practices for pest control and tending.

Where do you get your plants?

We believe in supporting local small businesses and work with a variety of local growers to bring our clients the healthiest and most naturally grown plants.

Will I get help growing my garden every season?

In addition, we offer personal coaching sessions right in your own garden anytime you need some extra help or have questions and group coaching sessions each season.

We also offer services such as quarterly garden clean up, compost and seasonal plant installation for garden installations done by The Potagère Gardener Team.

How will I know what to do each month in my garden?

Our mission at The Potagère Gardner is to educate and teach you in your garden. We don't want to just set up your garden, we want to help you learn too! Each installation includes access to a monthly newsletter that gets delivered straight to your inbox each month with lessons on what to plant, what to tend and what to harvest for that month in the garden.

How much can I expect my garden to produce each month?

Harvests depend on what is planted in the garden, but a general rule is that for every square foot of garden space you have you will receive 1-2 harvests per month. So, for a 30 square foot garden you can expect to harvest two servings of greens a day or one larger vegetable a day.

I have a small yard. Is there something that will work for me?

Clients are often surprised at the places a kitchen garden can be tucked in. In some cases, ornamental landscapes can be removed to make space too. We believe there is always room to grow your own fresh herbs and vegetables.

My yard is mostly shade, will anything grow there?

Some vegetables might be more challenging, such as tomatoes or cucumbers to grow in part shade areas, but herbs and greens can thrive in part shade spaces.

Do I need to have experience gardening to have success with my garden?

Our mission is to bring back the kitchen garden and with that our passion for teaching and educating our clients runs big. Most of our clients are beginner gardeners who will hire The Potagère Gardener to not only set up their gardens, but to help them learn too.

How long will it take to get my kitchen garden set up?

Garden installations take anywhere from 2-4 weeks upon receipt of the 50% deposit. Cedar gardens are typically installed within two weeks of deposit and metal or powder coated gardens 4-6 weeks from deposit. The team arrives on installation day with everything ready to complete your installation in one to two days.
